Yet Another Sequoia Adventure

So I took Ethan for one last day of fun up in the mountains before school started. We went back to Sequoia for a hike. Before the hike we decided that we needed to see tunnel log. It was amazing. Then we headed over to Lodgepole for a hike. Ethan said it was the best day of his life. We had a 1.7 mile hike into some waterfalls and when we got there, I showed E how to do a little rock climbing. He was in heaven. He even fell into the waterfall.....surprise surprise. Here are the pics.

On the way to the hike

Tunnel Log...doesn't it look like a rear view mirror from this POV?

Ethan sitting on top. He loved it. The tree fell over in 1937 and they cut the 8 ft by 17 ft tunnel shortly after.
My car in tunnel log.

The whole log is all carved up with initials.
Here is another tree that fell over on a calm clear day. That is Ethan right in the middle of the root system.

Trailhead
It was such a beautiful hike.

I wanted to be that person just floating in the pool of water....what a life.
The view down the canyon once we made it to the falls.

Ethan at the falls. There obviously isn't much water flowing down the falls. If it were the beginning of summer, Ethan would be underwater.

Can you spot E?

The rock was super slick and pretty steep. Ethan thought he was really cool now that he knew a couple of the basics of climbing.
Taking in the view.

How fun! I cannot believe that tree in the road! Although I would have done the same thing and put a hole in it. Seems easier than moving it!

When your kid says it was the "best day of his life" it doesn't get much better than that! What beautiful country - we can't wait to come see it!
